Chiropractic Adjustments

The Chiropractic adjustment is the foundation of the treatment for almost every patient.  The goal with the adjustment is to apply gentle force to specific segments of the spine, or extremities, in order to restore proper motion to the joint.  This takes stress off the bones and cartilage of the spine and improves the health of these tissues, and in doing so optimizes the function of the nervous system. 

 
 
 

ART

Active Release Technique is a hands on treatment to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia aimed at improving function of these tissues.  This is accomplished by breaking up adhesions in and between these tissues as well as restoring proper blood flow to areas that have become starved of adequate perfusion.  With these combined results, the patient will experience decreased tension and tenderness in the muscles and will improve the results seen with the Adjustment. 

 
 
 

Corrective Exercise

After receiving treatment, each patient will be taught a 10 – 20 minute routine of specific exercises to accelerate the healing of the tissues by improving global mobility and segmental stability.  While at the clinic, these routines will include use of resistance bands, kettlebells, and body weight movements, but Dr. Dunaway will teach each patient how to modify their routine so it can be performed at home on a daily basis.  By offering this service, it allows Dr. Dunaway to give the patients more control of their recovery time, allows the patient to begin developing good lifelong habits, and decreases the number of visits needed to see results.

 
 
 

Whole Body Vibration

WBV is a relatively new mode of therapy that has been shown to decrease pain, improve flexibility, improve muscular activation, improve blood flow, and accelerate strength gains.  Each patient visit will include a 5 min session post treatment which will prime their body to gain the most value from their corrective exercise.

Group Training

 

7-10 PEOPLE PER SESSION

These group classes will be about 8 people per class and will be a mixture of kettlebell training and body weight calisthenics.  The focus of these programs will not be solely exercise based, but teaching the importance of daily non-exercise activity that will target the ”high risk” areas of that individual.  The classes will have the goal of improving strength all while maintaining good mobility and stability elements.

Semi-Private/Private Training

2-4 PEOPLE PER SESSION

 

For those with an extensive history of injury or failed training attempts, this program will allow for more individual attention as well as more educational opportunities to help each client develop their daily movement practice.  The goal of this program is to gradually increase their ability to perform more intense exercise in their journey to improved strength and mobility.  Think of this as exercise with training wheels!  Semi-Private training includes 1 monthly Chiropractic treatment session.

Skype Consults with Dr. Dunaway

If you are looking to get some top notch guidance with programming body maintenance or help with training pain free, but don't live around the Clarksville/Nashville area, this options is for you! You can choose to engages a single session or a 4 session program with Dr. Dunaway.

Single Session

This option will allow us to go through your history, perform a movement assessment appropriate for your condition, and develop a general plan of attack to support proper healing and function.  Typically this includes a daily 10-15 minute routine and a list of “Do’s” and “Don’ts” for the gym and/or sport. This includes a 7 day window of open e-mail communication to answer any questions, altering the program if needed to ensure maximal effectiveness.

4 Session Program

This option will essentially start with maintenance routines to support and facilitate pain relief for better function of problem area. However, with the follow up visits we begin to develop similar plans for areas that may not be symptomatic but leading to, or contributing to, the issues you are dealing with.  This program is great for long standing issues that seem to be spreading to other areas which makes engaging fitness with any degree of intensity very difficult. Help with programming restorative fitness aspects to your current training will also be covered over the course of the entire program with continued follow up online support. This program typically runs 10-12 weeks.
