ChiroStrength is THE ONLY facility in Clarksville Tn which offers Chiropractic and Fitness classes in one Clinic! This business will transcend what you currently think of as “Conservative care” and by leveraging the fitness and chiropractic industry together, ChiroStrength will not only provide relief from joint and muscle pain, but train the body, through carefully planned exercise programs, to move on a more solid foundation with much less risk of injury. ChiroStrength also offers several avenues to educate yourself about healthcare and fitness topics such as knowing the difference between injury and pain, safe ways to self-treat, and safe exercises for core, hip, and shoulder strengthening.
The foundation of all programs used at ChiroStrength are based on what Dr. Dunaway calls the trinity of human movement: Mobility, Stability and Strength.
Mobility is the ability for the body to move freely both globally and segmentally. Due to a number of reasons, the average person experiences stiffness in different areas like the spine, shoulders, hips, or ankles which leads to an increased risk of injury. The first approach to Dr. Dunaway’s care is making sure the areas which are not moving sufficiently regain that mobility. This is accomplished with Chiropractic adjustments and treating the soft tissues with ART.
Stability simply means being able to control the motion you have. Without this ability, spinal discs and joint cartilage get damaged due to constantly getting over stressed in daily life. By gaining stability with corrective exercises, and eventually group training, the patient gains a solid foundation with which to improve their strength with much lower risk of injury.
Most injuries come from lacking the strength to support quality movement throughout the day. A lack of strength also prevents people from being able to enjoy most hobbies as well. Gaining strength in the core, hips, shoulders, and grip for example, will spare the uneven wear and tear that shows up as early degeneration. Gaining strength on a foundation that has good mobility and stability will improve a person’s chance to live a long, injury free, happy life.
Dr. Dunaway is originally from Cape Girardeau MO. He is the youngest in a family of 4 boys, which is to say he was constantly busy with sports…and getting hurt. His family environment growing up nurtured a passion for an active, healthy life in a large part due to his mother being a Registered Dietitian. It was after a baseball injury that Dr. Dunaway got his first chiropractic adjustment, after which, to his surprise, he was able to play in his very next game. It was at this point he knew there was something special about Chiropractic.
He went on to attend Logan College of Chiropractic and graduated Cum Laude in December of 2012. While attending Chiropractic school he went on to get full body certified in Active Release Technique to improve his knowledge in biomechanics and soft tissue treatment. Upon graduation he moved to Clarksville TN to begin practice.
For the first 3 years in Clarksville, Dr. Dunaway practiced traditional chiropractic but focused most of his continuing education on functional movement and kettlebell training. He quickly realized the need to incorporate corrective exercise and fitness into his Chiropractic philosophy in order to provide the most efficient and long lasting results for his patients. It was always his dream to have a clinic and gym in the same facility, and now he finally does. ChiroStrength is the accumulation of 7 years of education, 3 years of practice, and countless hours and weekends at seminars learning how to best do this. With this facility, Dr. Dunaway is finally able to provide his patients with everything in his expertise to not just get his patients out of pain, but teach them the importance of daily movement and sustainable exercise.
